"The fact is that the government, like a highwayman, says to a man: Your money, or your life. And many, if not most, taxes are paid under the compulsion of that threat.....every man who puts money into the hands of a "government" (so called), puts into its hands a sword which will be used against himself, to extort more money from him, and also to keep him in subjection to its arbitrary will" (Lysander Spooner)
Yes, it's a bit of a silly name, but does he make sense to you?
Does tax fit this description?
Change the Language?
What if we simply called tax 'extortion?'
Abolish all personal tax?
What if all personal taxation was abolished?
Could corporations be taxed because a corporation is just an idea and you cannot extort from an idea?
Would men/women voluntarily contribute to services they want?
TEAL? (Total Economic Activity Levy)
What if we introduced a small voluntary contribution of 1% on all electronic transactions?
(There are claims that a similar system can raise more revenue than our current system?)
What if there was an automatic deduction of 1p in the pound from both buyer and seller which goes towards services for society like roads and hospitals. Even this could be voluntary, however, if some one chooses not to pay that small levy, their names will be kept in a database and people will know who is being a bit on the mean side!
Wouldn't we all be happier being able to keep the fruits of our labour without going around violently taking people’s property, often earned with hard graft that the thief (government agent) had not even once experienced?
